Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition File Sizes for PlayStation Has Been Revealed

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was a surprise announcement to many who were hoping Rockstar would come up with GTA 6. The trilogy is a collection of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The developers are now modernizing this PlayStation 2 era iconic titles, allowing us to relive the good old days. As we inch closer and closer to the launch of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, more exciting news are starting to pop up. This time around, the file sizes for PlayStation platforms have been unveiled.

File sizes are quite large for these older GTA titles

While rumors and leaks surrounding the remastering of games had been doing rounds on the internet, Rockstar finally took the curtains off the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition just before the 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto 3. The trilogy will also be the first time for the Nintendo Switch platform and from what is available, the game will come with some massive overhauls, especially in the visual department. This will make the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition a big game and the newly revealed file sizes are a testament to it.

​Based on the information shared by PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, the PS5 versions of GTA The Definitive Edition will take up around 23 GB of HDD space (22.679 GB to be precise). However, this will be without the day one patch that will be available once the trilogy comes out. With the first-day patch, the collection might easily take up somewhere above mid 30 GBs of space on your HDD. The collection being this large doesn’t come as a surprise partially because Rockstar is doing more than just releasing a port. The developers are replacing many of the original assets with newer 4K versions and rebuilding the entire game for modern platforms. In certain scenarios, Rockstart is also adding new textures and character models, beefing up the size even further.

​The trilogy bundle will have the same storyline and missions that many players are familiar with and have come to love even after more than a decade. However, we still have very little idea about the in-game license tracks and music.

​Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is slated to release digitally for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 11. The physical versions will come out on December 7.
