Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory studio has revealed their new project: Lost Sphear. This classic role playing game features the same gameplay traits from other traditional games in the genre such as turn-based battles and world exploration, as well as an emotional story. The protagonists of the game are seeing how their friends and family are disappearing in front of them, which is why they set on a journey to rebuild the world by materializing their own thoughts and memories.

The first trailer of the game presents a wide variety of scenarios, from a dark and haunting city to open nature environments. It also showcases the enhanced ATB battle system, where players can change their placement during battles in order to use different strategies.

Square Enix created Tokyo RPG Factory as a studio that would be dedicated to build classic japanese RPG experiences, a style in need of preserving especially in a time when the majority of titles are evolving to a mixed form of action games. The studio’s debut project, I Am Setsuna, received positive reviews like our very own, and was released for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Lost Sphear hopes to keep up the goodwill towards the studio, and establish it as a key player in the industry.

Lost Sphear will be released on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on early 2018. Watch the trailer below.
