Infinity Ward denies Modern Warfare 4 rumors

by William Schwartz

Earlier today a new rumor surfaced that Infinity Ward was at the helm and already working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.  The actor for the voice of Captain Price had allegedly confirmed that he had already been working with Infinity Ward to voice the next game.  Bill Murray, the actor who plays Price was rumored to have relayed the information to This is Xbox.

Murray said point blank:  “Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in Modern Warfare games,” said the actor.

While it would come as no surprise that another Modern Warfare title was in the works, according to Activision’s track record, Infinity Ward has since debunked the rumors.

“Interesting news today, but it’s not true,” said the developer’s official Twitter account.  “We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation.”

Rumors of a next-gen Call of Duty title surfaced earlier this year, when a job listing pointed to Activision staffing up for a new hardware release.  It doesn’t look like Activision is ready to reveal any new information about what’s next to come for the Call of Duty franchise at this point.  With a release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 still set for later in 2012, it could be some time before fans hear any news about the future of this big franchise.
