UPDATE: Minecraft lead designer Jens “Jeb” Bergensten announced that the game has been delayed. Details can be found here.
After being resubmitted for final check with Sony, various rumors and teases have all pointed to a final release of Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition later today, but now we have full confirmation. Daniel Kaplan, the business and project manager at Mojang tweeted that the game will “hopefully” hit PSN later today. “We’re working out some last minute things with Sony and hopefully later today you will be playing Minecraft PS4 on your …PS4!”

If they do finish the game and get it out today then it would be two days before Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is released. It is doubtful that this would affect sales in a significant way due to few people owning both systems, and fewer being willing to shift due to the discount offer on each console. However, if Microsoft hadn’t come out to announce the impending release fans could have been quite upset.
That upgrade program I mentioned is for people who owned Minecraft on PS3 or Xbox 360. Normally Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition will cost you $19.99, but if you owned the game on PS3 you will be able to upgrade for only $4.99. This was confirmed to work on the digital release, but the physical disc had some issues that we are not sure have been resolved.
Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition will allow you to import your save from PS3 so you can retain your old world. It will enhance the game in many ways, offering larger worlds, greater draw distance, and overall improved visuals that run at 1080p and 60 FPS.
Daniel went on to clarify that this release is for Europe and the Americas, leaving a few territories in the dark as to when they might receive Minecraft on their PS4.
