Nancy Pelosi Tells Right-Wing Reporter To ‘Shut Up’ After Jan. 6 Question, But What Trump Allies Are Planning Next Is More Disturbing

Pelosi had two words for the MAGA reporter.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got into a heated exchange with a right-wing reporter outside the Capitol on Wednesday. The reporter asked her about a false story regarding her actions during the January 6, 2021 attack. The incident shows how Trump supporters are still trying to change what really happened that day.

Reporter Alison Steinberg followed Pelosi out of the Capitol. She kept asking Pelosi about a claim that has been proven false many times. Steinberg asked if Pelosi was worried about a new January 6 committee blaming her for the attack and why she refused to send in the National Guard.

As per The Hill, Pelosi, walking with her staff, turned around to respond to the reporter. “Shut up,” she said. “I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it.” She then asked why Steinberg was using Republican talking points while trying to act like a real journalist.

The Claim Is A Lie That Keeps Coming Back

Trump and his supporters have said many times that the president asked for troops on January 6 but Pelosi said no. But that is not true. A congressional investigation looked into this and found that Trump never made such a request. Also, the Speaker of the House does not have the power to control the National Guard.

Former acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said under oath that Trump did not give orders to get troops ready before January 6. In fact, video footage released after the attack shows Pelosi and then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer making phone calls from a safe location. They were calling members of Trump’s Cabinet and governors from nearby states, asking them to send National Guard troops to protect the Capitol.

Pelosi’s spokesperson Ian Krager pushed back hard against the false claims. “Numerous independent fact-checkers have confirmed again and again that Speaker Pelosi did not plan her own assassination on January 6th,” he said. “The ongoing attempts to whitewash the deadly insurrection are shameful, unpatriotic and pathetic.”

Republicans voted last month to create a new January 6 committee. This group will look into the attack again, almost three years after the first January 6 committee finished its report blaming Trump for starting the riot. The new committee can also investigate the old one. However, Trump has kept making controversial choices, including his recent call to pardon Netanyahu during a Gaza hostage celebration
