Today (September 13), Nintendo held an extensive Nintendo Direct stream to give news about various upcoming games for the 3DS and Switch. Two of the games discussed in the video, which was streamed on YouTube and Twitch, were the upcoming Pokémon games Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
The news for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was split into four parts. The first part focused on the Legendary Pokémon Necrozma, discussing its new forms Dusk Mane, when it absorbs Solgaleo, and Dawn Wings, when it absorbs Lunala. This appears to confirm a leak from yesterday that explained Necrozma’s new forms in the games.
Part two discussed some of the differences from the original Sun and Moon, including a new beach area and a valley full of Pikachu, as well as new clothing options for the playable characters. The third part discussed Dusk Form Lycanroc, but didn’t really offer any new information. Part three also discussed, however, Pokémon: Gold Version and Silver Version coming to the 3DS eShop on September 22. While news of Gold and Silver coming to the eShop is not new, a new detail was announced about these games. Those who buy Gold or Silver from the eShop will be given a code which can be used to redeem a Celebi in Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.
The fourth and final part of the announcement revealed that two new Ultra Beasts will appear in the new games. The Ultra Beast codenamed UB Burst will be exclusive to Ultra Sun while UB Assembly will only appear in Ultra Moon. Also announced was a New 2DS XL with a Pokéball design that will be available starting November 3. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be available for the 3DS on November 17.
