The NPD group has revealed the sales information for the month of November in North America. This is always a particularly interesting month to review, as Black Friday sales make it one of the busiest periods of sales of the year, and companies get to secure the future of their hardware by attracting as many new customers as possible. While this year’s Black Friday coincided with Microsoft’s new Xbox One X console, and the new sensation Nintendo Switch, it was actually the veteran PlayStation 4 the one hardware device that sold the most units. Which is an impressive feat on itself, but it also did it with the highest monthly sales in its four-year history.

This combination of new hardware and strength for current platforms made November 2017 hardware revenue increase a stunning 52% to $1.1 billion. The Xbox One was the top console of the month in revenue, helped by the higher price of the Xbox One X. The launch of the new console also helped Microsoft’s platform to achieve its highest sales in a month of November in its history. On the other hand, Nintendo Switch is still seen as one of the main factors why hardware spending has grown a 28% compared to 2016.

As for software sales, Call of Duty: WWII has definitely proven to be the reinvigorating force the franchise needed, as it no only topped game sales in November, it also became instantly the best selling game of 2017 so far and of the last 12 months. It also attracted more revenue than any other entry in the last five years, since Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins also accomplished a similar feat, attracting the highest revenue since Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
