Fans of the Overwatch series will be able to rejoice over a potential new hint towards the release date of the long-anticipated sequel, Overwatch 2. The Overwatch League has been set for early next year in Quarter Two of the fiscal year in April, this is notably going to gain a vast array of attention and one piece of information was crucial for a certain hint towards the Overwatch 2 release date.

Overwatch 2 Release Date Next Year?

The hint comes way by the news of the league using an “early build” of Overwatch 2 for competitors to play on. Given that on the Activision Blizzard earnings call in August, it was said that the game’s development passed an ‘internal milestone’, it is more than likely that the experience is shaping up to be nearly completed.

Furthermore, a report from recent times said that Overwatch 2 was targeting a Quarter two 2022 release date which correlates closely with the timing of the 2022 league. This could indicate that the release date falls somewhere around the Overwatch 2022 league for the public or later in the year.

However, This is all speculation and rumors and nothing is ironclad yet about what this means for the game’s release. One thing is for certain, the early build will showcase to the community what lays in store for Overwatch 2.

The Overwatch League’s Significance

The Overwatch League has made its skin-piercing mark on the gaming community in the same vein that other games such as Rainbow Six Siege have run championships for esports teams culminating within the ‘Six Invitational’ as the grand finale. The Overwatch League follows a similar format and an immense amount of hype is generated with each season ran.

It would be a perfect time to release the sequel due to the amount of interest that is created in the timeframe. Do you think Overwatch 2 will release in Quarter two next year?

Overwatch 2 is set to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is also likely to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
