The next event for Overwatch is Retribution. The event will run for three weeks in April and will feature Overwatch lore that touches on Blackwatch. Like last year’s Uprising Event which detailed backstory about some of the Overwatch characters, this year’s event sounds like it will be somewhat the same but with different focal points in the lore of the game. A number of hints had pointed to this event being centered around Blackwatch and now we know what to expect for the Overwatch Retribution event.
The story in Retribution will be focused on Blackwatch, where a four-player team will take on Talon. During the event players will get to team up with friends to tackle a player vs. enemy mode, playing as the Blackwatch team or a group of their own choosing. The team of Moira, Reaper, McCree, and Genji will be heading out to capture a high-ranking member of the Talon organization.
A couple of new skins have been officially confirmed for the event, as both Moira and Reaper will be getting some nice new duds. A new PvP map was also revealed by Blizzard. Set in Venice, it’s unclear if “Rialto” will launch for the public during the Retribution Event or whether Blizzard will hold that back for a bit.
Regardless, players will have a lot to unlock and they’ll need to do it in a short amount of time. Blizzard has confirmed that skins from the previous Overwatch Archive event from last year will be available in loot boxes during Retribution as well as 60 new items.
The Overwatch Retribution Event will take place from April 10th – 30th.
