Attention Steam users! Overkill Software is giving away 5 million copies of the highly acclaimed Payday 2, due to a special limited time special offer.
The multiplayer shooter will be available from now until June 21 or when 5 million users claim their copy. If getting a free copy of the popular game isn’t enough, Overkill has another bonus for anyone lucky enough to cash in on this deal: getting the game automatically grants access to the upcoming Payday VR for no additional cost. In other words, without having to pay anything at all, lucky users will be able to get both Payday 2 and its VR version in their entirety.
At this point, one would likely ask why Overkill is bothering to do this. The reason is because Payday 2: Ultimate Edition, which will include all 48 pieces of DLC that have been added to the game since its launch in 2013, will be coming out soon; and in the meantime, all the game’s DLC has been taken off the market. To be specific, it was actually supposed to come out today but Almir Listo, the global brand director of Starbreeze, revealed in a video earlier that the studio is “still working out a few kinks in it.”
In an announcement last month, Starbreeze announced that Overkill Software will continue to support Payday 2 until October 2018. All future DLC packs will be free for anyone who owns the game on Steam.
