Niantic has announced an upcoming event in Pokémon Go to celebrate the launch of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, starting in October 2021. Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is set to release exclusively on Netflix on October 8, 2021. The Pokémon Go event will feature content heavily inspired by the movie, such as the mythical Pokémon Zarude making its debut and the appearance of Pokémon that feature alongside the ‘Rogue Monkey’ Pokémon in the feature film.

Pokémon Go: Secrets of the Jungle will run from Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10 am until Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 8 pm local time. The complete list of features was listed on Niantic‘s recent blog post, with the highlight being a limited-time Special Research story players can complete to obtain Zarude and several other rewards. Pokémon that appear in the movie will also be appearing in the wild and raids, such as Larvitar, Audino, Cottonee, and the return of Explorer Pikachu. Fan favorites Jessie and James will also return and stick around until October 15 at 10 am local time. Finally, free avatar clothing items will be available in the in-game shop and field research tasks that reward Pokémon like Rufflet and Audino.

Fans may recall that we had a similar event last year to celebrate the same movie’s launch in Japan, in which players could obtain a shiny Celebi and battle Jessie and James for a chance at a shiny Shadow Scyther and Shadow Pinsir. Jessie and James will likely return with another chance at two shiny shadow Pokémon, as they have done in their previous appearances. Rufflet has a low shiny rate and was only featured in eggs and limited-time raids; thankfully, this event will make obtaining that rare golden bird easier due to its appearance in field research and the wild.

Fashion Week 2021 is still underway in Pokémon GO and has brought plenty of new shiny chances with it, along with the debut of Furfrou.
