Sony is set to do maintenance on its PlayStation Network messaging services later today for a few hours.
The PlayStation Network maintenance on the messaging services are to take place on Tuesday, April 21 at 9pm PT and ends on Wednesday, April 22 at 12am PT. This means you won’t be able to contact your friends for a total of three hours.
The following services will be unavailable for you to use on PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and the PlayStation Mobile.
-Sending PSN messages
-Receiving PSN messages
-Deleting PSN messages
-Changing the group message title
-Adding members to a group message
If you cannot message your friends later today (or tomorrow in Australia/NZ) this is because maintenance is being done. Don’t worry as it sounds like the whole PSN service will not be down.
Sony has not said yet when the next total PSN maintenance is due to take place. The company usually schedules maintenance each month to ensure the whole service is running properly.
Today’s maintenance just seems to be a minor one, so sending messages to your friends won’t be available to you. Sony noted “all other PSN services and online gameplay will be unaffected“. You can still play Destiny and other online games during this maintenance.
