Red Dead Redemption 2 Looks to be a Prequel

We’re still waiting on official confirmation out of Rockstar, but the latest trailer for their hotly anticipated open world game Red Dead Redemption 2 seems to indicate that the game will be a prequel. The game will feature a brand new main character in the form of Arthur Morgan, who is a new member of the Van der Linde gang.

The description reads “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”

Longtime fans might remember this as the same gang that previous protagonist John Marsden was a member of and had a significant confrontation with during the events of the first RDR game. There was no mention of Arthur Morgan in that game, so it will be interesting to see how he factors into the gang and the events that likely follow.

The rest of the story details can be found in the trailer right here, though they’re still light and likely feature mostly stuff from the beginning of the game. Rockstar games often have long, sprawling storylines with multiple main chapters. We’ll find out in Spring 2018 how the tale of Red Dead Redemption 2 shapes out.
