We’ve all known for some time that Titanfall 2 would be coming, but Respawn Entertainment has been quiet about the sequel as of late. Now, it seems that an announcement is imminent with logos and other advertising material appearing at Gamestops across the country.

The news was first shared on NeoGaf, with users who work at Gamestop reporting that they had seen the material appear for Titanfall 2. These include posters as well as covers that will be displayed on shelves. There was significant doubt about the reports though, as they had no pictures to share. However, a new picture was posted to Twitter seemingly confirming the impending announcement.

The going assumption is that Titanfall 2 will be a cover feature for Game Informer magazine, which is owned by Gamestop. This is in line with the original announcement for Titanfall, which came just before E3 and was a prominent story for the magazine.

The original Titanfall was a well reviewed game, and had extremely good sales. However, after some time the community seemed to dry up, with gamers reporting trouble finding other players. Many cited the lack of a single player campaign and the fracturing of the community via DLC as causes. At least the first of these will be fixed with Titanfall 2, which is said to feature a full campaign this time around.

The DLC problem has been solved by other games, which offer maps as free content for players. The developer then makes money using microtransactions, or sales of cosmetic items that don’t directly impact the player experience. Whether or not Titanfall will go this route is anyone’s guess, but it seemed to be the trajectory the game was going before development on the first was suspended.

Titanfall 2 is still definitely a rumor at this point, but its announcement is a certainty eventually. Maybe we’ll be getting something official very soon.
