Spelunky, the fusion of action, adventure and platforming first debuted on the PC in 2008. Since then, the game was remade for the XBLA with new graphics, music, zones, monsters, items, traps, and secrets. The control scheme too was redesigned for a controller. Spelunky enjoyed immense success at the XBLA and holds a score of 87 at Metacrtitic and also garnered perfect scores from many publications. It is this version of Spelunky which is now heading back to its original home on 8th August, 2013.

The original Spelunky is now available for free at the official site along with the source code for the game.

The new Spelunky is also slated for a PSN release this summer. Glad to see developers spreading the love around. Maybe someday we will be free of console exclusivity and then I can finally enjoy Journey on my PC. A guy can always dream, eh?
