UPDATE: The game has been announced as Minecraft: Story Mode.
Telltale Games’ director of public relations, Job J Stauffer, has been sending out a series of very cryptic tweets over the last few hours. Promising news “before the holiday break”, the tweets indicate that Telltale Games has a new project to unveil that is not a part of their currently running Tales from the Borderlands or Game of Thrones series. There also seems to be another game developer involved, possibly indicating a cross-over of sorts, or a new franchise for Telltale to work their magic in. Check out the tweets below:
That was quite a phone call. Looks like we’re a go!!
Super secret surprise announcements before the holiday break? Maaaaaybe…hashtag #subtle!
I’ll also clarify – it’s not directly related to anything else we’ve made in 2014.
“Well, kids… You see… When two game developers love each other VERY much… and they get together…”
Alright. Signing off for a bit. Much more work to do, but est. waiting time is less than 8 hrs. See you in the morning! ;)
That last tweet came a few hours ago, so the promised news could hit very soon. At first my guesss was that we would get a sneak peek at The Walking Dead Season 3, but the mention of another game studio seems to quell this. Now I’m leaning more toward a Tales from the Borderlands-esque game where Telltale creates their own story within another developer’s franchise. However, it could be the other way around, with another game developer reworking a previous Telltale property. This is less likely since Telltale almost always uses licensed properties, such as TWD, The Wolf Among Us, and Game of Thrones.Â
