While The Game Awards is set to deliver some huge announcements and reveals, one that many fans had hoped to see will apparently be skipping the show. Naughty Dog has confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 will not be featured during the show. Sadly this means we won’t be getting any updates on the game for awhile, though they do seem to be looking to the future for when more will be shared.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating a year of incredible games at The Game Awards this Thursday, however, we won’t have anything new to share from The Last of Us Part II,” said the famed Uncharted developer. “We’re hard at work and looking forward to revealing more when the time is right!”

When will the time be right? That’s the big question now. Sony has said they are skipping E3 2019, a huge shift for the entire industry. Things could come together in 2019 for another PlayStation Experience, though that convention has had an odd schedule over the last two years. The Last of Us Part 2 doesn’t yet have a firm release date, so really the wait could be longer or shorter than anyone is thinking at this time.
