Why Ubisoft’s The Crew Is Ditching The PS3

Ubisoft’s ambitious driving game was originally announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One only. They are now releasing the game for Xbox 360, but are leaving the poor PS3 behind.

An Ubisoft represntative told Polygon why The Crew is not releasing on PS3:

“The Crew was originally built for the new generation of consoles, so when we made the decision to port it to the previous generation, we decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen’s technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360. We are not currently working on a version for PS3”

Sorry for any PS3 fans hoping for The Crew to be released on that platform. Developers mentioned a few years ago when the PS3 first launched that it was harder to make games on. Thankfully Sony changed that as the PS4 is easy for developers now.

Ubisoft is planning to bring many of the same features of The Crew to the Xbox 360 version. This is unlike with Forza Horizon 2 which is going to be different from the Xbox One version. A closed beta for The Crew is being planned for PS4 and Xbox One owners in late September.

The Crew releases November 11th for all platforms.
