It appears the only way you can play the online multiplayer beta for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is by buying Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. There are no plans for an open beta.
As reported Gamespot, Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer mentioned on the PlayStation Blog that there are “no plans” for an open beta for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
The closed beta is happening right now for those that bought the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. This beta will end soon as it finishes on December 13th. If you haven’t played the beta now, it might be too late for you to join.
It’s worth mentioning the beta does require players to have PlayStation Plus as well. This is standard practice as PS4 owners usually have to have PlayStation Plus in order to play online mulitplayer games. Only some free to play video games are exempt by this.
It’s a little sad that there won’t be an open beta for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. EA and DICE held an open beta for Star Wars Battlefront and they managed to notch up over 9 million players during that time.
Naughty Dog has not announced yet if there will be an extension to the current beta either. We’ll just have to wait and see.
