While Yooka-Laylee is set to be coming to several platforms when it launches next year, there is at least one major new platform that it will be skipping initially. If you were hoping to possibly play the game on Nintendo’s upcoming NX console, then you are unfortunately out of luck for now.
Developer Playtonic Games recently spoke with The Digital Fix about the platforms the game will be coming to next year, revealing that the game won’t be coming to NX at launch due to their small team already being stretched with current platforms. “At this stage we’re aiming to just release on what we promised on Kickstarter,” said Playtonic. “Which is a lot for us as a team of twenty people!”
Of course, questions of the game’s release date also came up, as the game had originally been set to launch later this year but was recently delayed to early next year. The game is still on track to launch early next year, but the developer still does not have a solid release date to share.
When Yooka-Laylee does launch it will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U and PC. You can check out our impressions of the Toybox Demo by clicking right here.
