A nanny says she was called late for arriving at 8:01 AM, then quit after the mom asked her to wipe the baby’s face once the other nanny kissed her

A babysitter’s story about a family that questioned her for walking in one minute late has pulled in hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok. Kiersten, who posts as @kiersten_conroy, described a string of uncomfortable moments from a nanny job at a home that kept caregivers on duty around the clock, as reported by Daily Dot.

Her shift started at 8 a.m., and she says she arrived at 8:01. Before she had even set her bag down, the mother allegedly asked why she was late. The short exchange that followed ended with the mother checking her watch, according to the video. Another babysitter was often in the house during her shifts, and the family reportedly switched nannies frequently.

The timing issue came up again on a different morning. Kiersten says she arrived 10 minutes early and waited in her car for about five minutes before heading inside, still five minutes ahead of schedule. The parents noticed and told her she could simply come in early rather than sit outside. Viewers had plenty to say about the household she described.

Kiersten says the house rules went all the way down to how she dried the dishes

Once she was inside, the mother handed her several household tasks, according to the video. Kiersten says she started on the laundry, but the mother moved her over to the dishes, as she did not like dirty dishes sitting in the sink. When the nanny set them upside down on the drying rack, she was reportedly told they needed to stand on their side so air could reach them.

She also says she was scolded for leaving the toilet lid up and the bathroom door open. While she was brushing the couple’s son’s teeth, the father allegedly questioned whether she knew how to do it. Kiersten says she joked back that she brushes her own teeth often, a line one viewer echoed in the comments.

The moment she says stuck with her most involved the family’s overnight nanny, an older woman she described as affectionate and caring. Kiersten claims the mother often gossiped to her about that caregiver, though she never joined in. The mother later texted her to wipe the baby’s face, as the overnight nanny had just finished kissing the child on the cheek.

Kiersten says she eventually quit, and she framed the incidents as only a handful of the uncomfortable experiences she had in the home. The family has not been publicly identified. However, many viewers focused on the single minute that set the story in motion. “8:01 should NOT be a big deal,” one commenter wrote, while another said they needed to know what the parents do for work.

A third person said the story felt “so scary familiar” and asked whether they had worked for the same mom. Another viewer joked that nannies now need a support group of their own. Several commenters also asked to hear how the mother reacted when Kiersten finally walked away from the nanny job.

Not everyone sided with the babysitter, however. One viewer argued that 8:01 is not 8:00, and another was blunter: “Give me a break. You were late.” A self-described nanny said the story was not even bad, while someone else asked whether Kiersten had been hired as a babysitter, a nanny or a housekeeper.

The split over Kiersten’s 8:01 arrival echoes the debate around an employee whose boss called him a minute late after quietly moving a meeting up. In both cases, commenters argued over whether a single minute should ever count as late, and whether the person in charge handled it fairly.

Kiersten captioned the clip by saying she could go on and on, so more stories from the nanny job could follow, possibly including the mother’s response to her quitting.
