Dafne Keen is shedding light on the intensity of growing up in Hollywood, revealing she was offered cocaine at wrap parties while she was just 11 years old, Unilad reports. The 21-year-old actor, known for her work in Logan, Ana, and Deadpool & Wolverine, shared these experiences during a recent appearance on the Inside of You podcast with host Michael Rosenbaum.
During the conversation, Keen explained that being around those situations at such a tender age actually turned her off from substance use entirely. She noted that as a child actor, she witnessed quite a bit of that behavior, which left her with no interest in participating.
When Rosenbaum asked if she saw a lot of drinking, Keen confirmed that she was exposed to drug offers early on. She said, “I was getting offered coke at wrap parties. Like, tiny. Like 11, 12, 13. So I saw what that was, so I was like, I don’t really have any interest in that.”
She had to lie about her habits
Keen managed to navigate those early years by saying no to those offers, though she developed a clever way to handle peer pressure as a teenager. She admitted to lying about her habits to make those awkward social encounters easier to manage.
Keen explained, “I did used to lie as a teenager so I wouldn’t get peer pressured. I’d be like, Nah, I’m good. I don’t wanna drink. I already took something. Dead sober. Like, the goodest goody-two-shoes ever.”
Despite the pressure she faced, Keen maintains that she has not let it impact her ability to have a good time. She explained that she is a control freak when it comes to substances and has never been drunk enough to experience a hangover. She still enjoys going out and stays out until 6:00 AM, but she does it completely sober. For her, it is all about the music, the dancing, and the people.
While those early Hollywood experiences were certainly heavy, Keen also reflected on the positive side of her start in the industry. She specifically mentioned her time on the set of Logan, where the cast and crew went out of their way to make her feel like a professional.
She felt like a respectable artist whose opinion truly mattered. Keen said, “They were all really good on that set at making me really feel like a grown-up and making me really feel like a respectable artist. My opinion really felt like it mattered. If I said I thought something about a scene, people would think about it. And I don’t know if it was fake or not, but it really felt like I was included in the process.”
