Bandai Namco has kept quiet about the which platforms Tekken 7 will be released on. They are not even wanting to say if it will be released on the older PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles yet.
A fan asked Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada on Twitter if the game would be available on PS3 or Xbox 360. Harada just said he has “no information now”. He didn’t confirm or deny the possibility, although his refusal to give out a straight answer may not be a good thing.
Bandai Namco has confirmed a few weeks ago that Tekken 7 uses Unreal Engine 4. Unreal Engine 4 has been optimized for PC and the new gaming consoles. It doesn’t sound like there is a good chance the game is hitting the PS3 and Xbox 360 if the new game is using a game engine like that.
Still, there is some hope since next year’s Mortal Kombat X is releasing on the PS3 and Xbox 360. If that’s the case, there may be a small chance Tekken 7 could still be released for the older consoles. After all, the install base is much larger.
Harada did hint more information about Tekken 7 will be revealed later this month during TGS. Hopefully he announces which platforms the game will be released on.
