A terrible discovery at a Los Angeles County home has shocked the local community. Police found a 7-year-old boy’s body inside a freezer, and three members of his own family are now behind bars.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies went to check on a home in Lynwood, California on Tuesday. According to People, someone had called to report that there was a dead child at the address. The home was part of an apartment building in the area.
When officers got there and looked around, they found the boy’s body stored in a freezer. But it’s who got arrested that reveals the true horror. The people taken into custody were the child’s mother, father and grandmother.
The family members now face serious charges
The boy’s mother, 25-year-old Destiny Harrison, is being held because police think she committed murder. This means investigators believe she had a direct part in her son’s death, according to the sheriff’s department.
His father, Daniel Monzon, who is also 25, and his grandmother, 46-year-old Ana Zarceno-Carcamo, are facing different charges. Police are holding them because they suspect the two planned the crime together or knew what was happening to the child. They are each charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Right now, all three people are in jail with bail set at $2 million each. Police have not said if formal charges have been filed yet. They also have not shared the boy’s name or said how he died. The investigation is still going on.
There is another sad part to this story. Police found three more children living in the same home. They were 9 months old, 13 years old, and 16 years old. Reports say all three kids were taken away and are now being looked after by child protective services.
Police are still trying to figure out everything that happened. They want to know the full story of how the boy died and how long his body was hidden in the freezer. People in Lynwood are asking hard questions about how something so awful could happen and if anyone could have stopped it.
