John Oliver talked about the new Jeffrey Epstein emails that came out recently on his show. The documents include many mentions of President Donald Trump. Oliver was one of several comedians who made jokes about what was found in these papers.
According to Deadline, the emails showed that Epstein wrote some pretty bad things about Trump. He called Trump the worst person he had ever met. Epstein also wrote that Trump was dangerous and that he did not have a single decent cell in his body. This is interesting because Epstein himself was a convicted sex trafficker.
Oliver pointed out how strange it was for Epstein to say these things about Trump. He joked that when even the guy running the pervert express to crime island thinks that you are a dick, that has got to sting. The comedian thought it was odd for someone like Epstein to criticize anyone else so harshly.
He’s really not holding back here
Oliver kept going with his comments about what Trump might think of all this. He said that even though Trump does not seem to care what people think about him, this might bother him a little.
“I know that Trump seems immune to shame, but c’mon, at some point he’s going to look at himself in the mirror and, even if briefly, think: ‘None as bad as me? Captain Freak of the floating sex dungeon thinks I am the worst? F**k, that is rough,’” the political comic said.
Besides discussing what Epstein knew about Trump , the show also talked about Megyn Kelly and some comments she made about Epstein. Kelly tried to make a point about the ages of Epstein’s victims that a lot of people thought was really inappropriate. Oliver said he never wanted to be the kind of person who does pedophile math, showing how upset he was about her remarks.
“I am clearly no stranger to sharing upsetting numbers with my audience, but please do kill me if I ever start doing pedophile math,” he said.
Most of the episode was actually about public media and how it gets funded by the government. Trump’s administration has made big cuts to this funding. Oliver said his show is doing an auction that will run until November 24 to help raise money for public media.
They are selling some weird stuff like a bronze statue of Lyndon B. Johnson’s private parts, a jockstrap that Russell Crowe wore in Cinderella Man, and a painting by Bob Ross called Cabin at Sunset. Joel McHale came on the show to help talk about the auction during this final episode of the season.
Things have taken an interesting turn recently with Trump now asking House Republicans to vote yes on releasing the Epstein documents. This is different from what his position was before. Trump has also taken steps regarding investigating powerful people over their Epstein connections, and the names on that list have gotten a lot of attention.
