A teenager fleeing police crashed his vehicle through a perimeter fence at Portsmouth International Airport, striking both a parked plane and a tractor in a chaotic scene. This incident, which reportedly involved a 17-year-old suspect from Rochester named Wyatt Seely, ended with the teenager in state police custody after he was found intoxicated. Authorities have also confirmed that no one else was injured during this event.
As reported by the NY Post, the sequence of events began when state troopers were actively searching for a vehicle that had been linked to reported crimes in other local jurisdictions. A trooper reportedly spotted a black 2008 Ford Mustang on Durham Street in Portsmouth and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
Rather than pulling over, the driver allegedly decided to flee the scene entirely. The pursuit did not last long, but it certainly ended in a dramatic fashion when the Mustang, which was operating without its lights on, smashed right through the airport perimeter fence. The vehicle then traveled across an aircraft parking apron before it finally collided with a Kubota tractor and a small, unoccupied, stationary plane.
He is now facing multiple charges
After the Mustang finally came to a stop following the collisions, Seely was taken into custody by state troopers. Shortly after, he was subsequently transported to an area hospital to undergo an evaluation for injuries.
The response to this breach was significant, involving multiple agencies working together to secure the site. The Portsmouth Police and Fire departments, the Newington Police Department, and Pease Fire and Emergency Services all reportedly arrived to assist during the incident.
The legal consequences for the teen are mounting as he faces several charges following his arrest. Officials confirmed that Seely has been charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, disobeying a police officer, and conduct after an accident.
In addition to these charges, he is facing a violation-level offense of reckless driving. The authorities documented these details in a release and shared information regarding the arrest in a post on X. It is a serious list of offenses, and the legal process will now move forward as the case heads to court.
