A lawyer’s wife has shared a heartbreaking theory about what happened when her husband and his uncle disappeared during a fishing trip in Florida. The two men vanished under strange circumstances, and their empty boat was discovered 70 miles out at sea with the engine still running.
According to The Sun, Randall Spivey, 57, and his nephew Brandon Billmaier, 33, went missing on December 19. They were reported overdue to the Coast Guard at 8 pm that evening. Just after midnight, a Coast Guard helicopter found their boat drifting about 70 miles west of Fort Myers. The boat was still in gear, but both men were gone.
Brandon’s last message to his wife Deborah was simple and loving. He texted her saying he loved her and would be home that night. Those were the last words she ever received from him. Deborah explained the Coast Guard’s theory about what likely happened to the two men. “So they jumped in the water, and the boat was still going, kept moving away from them,” she revealed.
The Coast Guard believes one fell and the other tried to help
The boat, named “Unstoppable,” kept moving forward while both men were in the water. They had no way to catch up to the 42-foot vessel as it drifted away from them. This left them stranded in the ocean with no boat and no help nearby.
Both men worked as lawyers. Brandon was a trial attorney at the Shiner Law Group in Boca Raton, while Randall had been helping injured people for over 30 years. In other legal news, a lawyer received shocking surveillance evidence from a major retailer recently. Brandon had followed his uncle into the legal profession and hoped to join Randall’s firm one day.
The two families were very close. They traveled together often and went fishing regularly. Brandon was originally from Ohio and grew up in Michigan. He got his college degree and law degree from the University of Toledo. When he wasn’t working, he loved fishing and lobstering in the Florida Keys, playing pickleball, and staying healthy.
Deborah and Brandon met in 2020, and she described their relationship as incredible. She keeps thinking about their last dinner together on a quiet Thursday night, remembering how special those simple moments were.
Meanwhile, sisters discovered through DNA testing reunited in an emotional story involving their lawyer. Deborah finds some comfort knowing Brandon spent his final hours doing something he loved with family. Brandon lived for fishing and for his family, she said.
