Father picks up McDonald’s for family on Christmas week, walks into a nightmare he’ll never forget

 A father came home with McDonald’s breakfast during Christmas week and found his 23-year-old daughter dead in a blood-covered bedroom. Police say the daughter’s mother was naked, covered in blood, and holding a knife when officers arrived at the house.

According to The Sun, the incident happened in Secane, Pennsylvania, after Upper Darby police responded to a stabbing call early in the morning. Officers were sent to the 200 block of South Bishop Avenue at 6:38 am for a report of a 23-year-old woman who had been stabbed.

Police were told that the victim’s mother, Diane Grovola, 57, was inside the house and had a knife. When officers entered, they found Grovola naked and covered in blood with shallow cuts that police later said she made to herself.

The mother resisted police and made a shocking confession

Officers had to use wrist restraints on Grovola after she refused to follow their commands. Once she was restrained, she told Officer Inderbir Randhawa, “sorry, I should have stabbed myself first.”

Paramedics tried to help the victim, Daniele Grovola, who had cuts on her face, chest, legs, and back. She was declared dead at 7:07 am after medical teams could not save her.

The victim’s father, John, called 911 after he found his daughter not responding. He told police he left his job at the UPS facility at Philadelphia Airport between 5 and 5:30 am and stopped at McDonald’s on his way home to get breakfast for his family. While bizarre incidents at McDonald’s locations have made headlines recently, nothing could prepare him for what he was about to find.

When John walked into the house, the family dog ran to him. He got blood on his clothes after touching the dog. He said his wife was sitting on the living room sofa holding a knife and told him, “I stabbed our daughter.”

The father went to the bedroom and found his daughter lying on her back with her eyes open, but she did not respond when he called her name. He returned to the living room and called 911.

While he was on the phone, his wife said she did not want to live anymore and started stabbing herself in the chest. The 911 operator told him to leave the house. He saw her throw the knife on the living room floor before he left. Police later found a large stainless-steel knife with blood on it. 

The family dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment after it was also injured. This tragic discovery follows other unusual McDonald’s related incidents reported recently. Grovola was charged with criminal homicide, first- and third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime, and cruelty to animals. She was denied bail and sent to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
