Super Meat Boy is a brutally difficult platforming game where players die dozens of times on each level. Now, someone has finally beaten the entire game without dying once. It took 15 years since the game first came out on Xbox 360 for anyone to pull this off.
According to IGN, a Nintendo speedrunner named shredberg made gaming history by completing Super Meat Boy without a single death. He livestreamed the entire run near the end of 2025. Edmund McMillen, who helped create the game, quickly congratulated shredberg and called him “awesome” for being the first person to do it.
Anyone who has played Super Meat Boy knows how hard it is. The later levels look completely impossible when you first see them. Watching shredberg’s full run is impressive because he stays calm while jumping and sliding around sawblades, meat grinders, and explosions with just pixels to spare.
The run took over 2000 attempts and 1000 hours
After beating the final level, shredberg calmly said, “Let’s go. Let’s go dude! I cannot believe it, I’ve been doing this too long. I got to go to work tomorrow.” He admitted he was very nervous, especially at the end. But he said he felt even more nervous during an earlier level called Dark Cotton. Once he got past Dark Hell 2, he felt relatively fine, though any small mistake made him super nervous again.
Shredberg joked about sharing his achievement everywhere. “I’m going to be emailing everyone,” he said. “Kotaku, IGN, CNN, Chef’s Illustrated, they’re all going to hear about it. I will unironically email IGN.” His lighthearted comment showed how important this accomplishment was to him. This dedication reminds us of how billionaire gamers approach gaming differently.
Super Meat Boy has been released on every major console over the years, from Nintendo Switch to PlayStation Vita. Despite this, no one else has managed to complete a deathless run. Many players thought it was impossible. A sequel called Super Meat Boy Forever came out in 2020, and Super Meat Boy 3D is set to launch early this year.
Right after shredberg finished his run, viewers started suggesting what he should play next. One person mentioned Silksong. Shredberg responded, “I have to play Silksong now? Yeah… I’m so glad it’s over. Not even in a ‘this wasn’t even fun’ kinda way, because it was. But, man.” His reaction showed both relief and exhaustion after years of attempts.
The achievement marks a major moment in gaming history. What seemed impossible for 15 years is now proven possible through dedication and skill. Meanwhile, old Star Wars racing games are selling expensively as collectors discover their unique features.
