Turning Point USA has revealed plans to stage its own alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show, positioning the event as a conservative counter-programming move to the NFL’s official entertainment choice. The organisation announced that Kid Rock will headline the show, a decision framed as a direct response to the league selecting Bad Bunny as the performer for the championship game’s halftime spectacle.
Dubbed the All-American Halftime Show, the event is designed to run in parallel with the Super Bowl broadcast and appeal to fans looking for a different cultural tone. According to NBC News, Alongside Kid Rock, the lineup features prominent country music acts Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, reinforcing the event’s patriotic branding and musical identity.
This alternative All-American Halftime Show by Turning Point USA comes amid a broader conservative backlash to the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny as the headline performer for the official Super Bowl halftime show. Some right-wing commentators, political figures, and media personalities criticised the choice on cultural and political grounds, pointing to Bad Bunny’s frequent use of Spanish in his music and his public statements on social issues.
Bad Bunny’s recent success makes the NFL’s choice even more significant
Bad Bunny just won Album of the Year at the Grammys on Sunday for his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. The 31-year-old artist made history with this win. It was the first time an all-Spanish-language album won that top category at the Grammys. Despite how ICE disrupted the ceremony’s atmosphere, the awards show celebrated major achievements in music.
Kid Rock has performed at major conservative events before, including the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for Turning Point USA, explained why they organized the alternative show. He said it is “an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom.”
The All-American Halftime Show will not air on regular television. Viewers can stream it on Turning Point USA’s social media channels, including YouTube, X, and Rumble. The group said the program will also stream on several partner platforms.
The Super Bowl kicks off shortly after 6:30 PM ET on Sunday. Halftime is expected to happen between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, when both performances will air at the same time. The NFC champion Seattle Seahawks are 4.5-point favorites over the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, ICE’s planned presence at the game has raised concerns among attendees.
