Sony will be announcing something later this month in regards to the future of the PlayStation brand. Many believe it to be the announcement of the PS4, that we will hear in a few weeks. As expected, once this console has been revealed, we can start to get a clearer picture of what Sony will be offering with their next generation hardware and features.

Today however, Edge Magazine claims to have new details about the PlayStation 4, its controller, and interesting new sharing features on the device. The publication says that the PS4 will use technology similar to that found on the PS Vita and its rear touchpad. They say that the new controller will be the same size and shape as the mainstay DualShock, but the touchpad will take the place of the Start, Select, and PlayStation buttons.

Numerous sources have also revealed that Sony is planning to integrate social features into the new machine, and the controller will also incorporate a sharing button that allows users to share screenshots and video online, presumably via the PlayStation Network.

Despite some conflicting reports, Edge believes that the PS4 will arrive in the US and Japan by this Christmas.
