A video showing a Jersey Mike’s employee training as she makes a sandwich is spreading on social media. According to The Daily Dot, the employee was preparing a sandwich when her colleague stopped her and started teaching her how to present the ideal sandwich. This reportedly left the internet displeased, as they claimed it should have been done at another time without keeping customers waiting.
According to the video shared by @subdude1956 on TikTok, an employee named “Addison” was preparing a sandwich when her colleague, who appears to be recording, stopped her to show “something” about the presentation. He explained, “Instead of putting all the pickles on the lid here, and you want to put them right on top of the tomatoes.” The employee said, “Sorry,” and claimed she was trying to “speed” it up.
The man seemed to admit the employee’s way was faster, but said that since they need the sandwich to be “as high as possible,” the pickles should go on top of the tomatoes. He then talked about Jersey Mike’s competitors and explained how his presentation provides an edge. Apparently, this training was all about the “aesthetics,” and when he finished explaining, he could be heard asking a customer if they needed anything.
Viewers seemed unhappy with the training
The video gained significant traction on TikTok, garnering over 1.7 million views. While there was no sign of a customer confrontation with a Jersey Mike’s employee, the video shows some customers waiting for their order during the training. Apparently, this made viewers unhappy, suggesting the training should have been done without keeping the customers waiting.
As one of the commenters wrote, “Should be done away from customers. This is just humiliating.” Another person had a similar opinion, asking, “Why in front of costumers??” Apart from these, some seemed concerned for the employee, as one said, “Don’t correct her in front of customers bro.”
Another person mentioned, “In my opinion is incredibly unprofessional to correct employees in front of the customer while they’re still trying to build the order you’re making the customer wait longer and you’re embarrassing your employees.” However, not everyone seemed unenthusiastic towards the man, as one person stated, “He is the owner of a dozen jersey mikes for a reason. Details matter.”
The comment section included similar ideas from the audience about the Jersey Mike’s issue. The man has not shared a follow-up video addressing the feedback, and the identity of the employee who was being trained remains unknown. No comments from Jersey Mike’s were found after the video gained significant traction.
