Next Gen Mass Effect 4 could be a ways off

It could be some time until we get word on a next-gen Mass Effect game. Despite bits and pieces of information leaked from Bioware over the last year, and the official confirmation that the next game in the series wouldn’t be “Mass Effect 4”, Bioware is apparently somewhere in the middle of the development process for the next Mass Effect game.

Studio Director of Bioware Montreal, Yannick Roy, says that the next Mass Effect game is “somewhere in the middle” when it comes to the development process. As Eurogamer speculates, if Bioware Montreal started working on the game 18 months ago, the midway point would pin an October ’15 release date to the game.

Having been two years since the launch of Mass Effect 3 and the conclusion of the trilogy, Mass Effect fans are chomping at the bit for more information about the game. That doesn’t necessarily mean that will be hearing anything soon. According to Roy, “I’m hesitant to start announcing announcement,” the studio head told fans via Twitter when asked if there would be any announcements at E3 2014.

2015 is sounding like a best case scenario for Mass Effect on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Bioware will be launching Dragon Age: Inquisition later this year, and it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see two new Bioware RPGs released this fall.

Though an interesting bit of Mass Effect news did pop up earlier this week. One that could make a lot of sense if the next-gen Mass Effect game will be taking a little longer than expected. A Chilean retailer had listed Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the original Mass Effect trilogy. A move that would make sense with so many others hopping on the bandwagon of re-releasing Xbox 360 and PS3 games on the new consoles.
