As we reported earlier Hideo Kojima pulled off one of the greatest gaming reveals of all time with Silent Hills. Released on the Playstation Store under the name P.T., and using a fake studio as the developer. The “playable teaser” was actually the unveiling of a new Silent Hill game made by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, starring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. Now we have the official trailer all by itself, for those who can’t play through the brilliant playable teaser.

Silent Hills is made by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro and stars Norman Reedus

The game’s official title is Silent Hills, but little else is revealed in the short video. It seems like the story will revolve around traditional Silent Hill themes, such as a murdered family and angry spirits. The name is an interesting twist, possibly indicating multiple locations based around the Silent Hill concept. Or maybe they’re copying the Alien franchise sequel naming structure…probably not.

Either way we are getting a new Silent Hill game, and coming from some of the best in the gaming and horror industries. While the franchise has faltered with many of its more recent entries, I have high hopes for Silent Hills. If nothing else, the interesting way it was revealed shows that they are putting a lot of effort into the release.

One notable inclusion is the classic theme song from Akira Yamaoka. Yamaoka was the composer for most of the Silent Hill games, creating the iconic music featured in the series. However, he left Konami awhile back, so hopefully he will be making a return for Silent Hills.

It is currently unknown whether Silent Hills will be a PS4 exclusive. All we know is that it will hit sometime in 2015. Keep checking here for updates.
