We learned a couple weeks ago that the much anticipated Halo: The Master Chief Collection would have quite the large day one update that would basically be adding the multiplayer aspect of the game, alongside some other extras. It was also previously revealed that the update would be going up early for those that pre-ordered the game to pre-load it in advance of release. Now, the aforementioned update is up for download and it is actually smaller than originally reported.

The news that this update was already up for download came courtesy of 343 Industries’ Dan Ayoub through his Twitter account.

  • “Good news gang! Day One TU for MCC is up! If you haven’t enabled auto download, go get it now!!

The major day one update ended up being only 15 GB, which is still quite large. As a result, it is very important to go ahead and get downloading if you have already pre-loaded the game itself. If you are having any trouble with the update, Ayoub gave the following advice as well.

  • “For the update, you may need to back out or even restart to kick it into gear. But trust me, it is there waiting for you!”

The disappointed aspect is that those planning to buy the game in retail cannot start the download for the update to use in tandem with the disc next Tuesday. This is something that really should be looked into, especially with such large day one updates like this starting to happen.
