The Grand Theft Auto series has long been a force in gaming but the latest entry with Grand Theft Auto V may be the most successful of all, at least in the UK. After less than a week of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions being out, it has been revealed courtesy of Eurogamer that Grand Theft Auto V is now officially the best selling game of all time in the UK.
To no one’s surprise, Grand Theft Auto V topped the UK weekly chart, but in combination with the exceptional sales of the game last year, it has now surpassed the previous best seller Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game already had the record for best opening week sales last year with £94m, but this is an even more impressive record.
No specific sales numbers were revealed for this past week, but it was announced, per Video Gamer, that the PlayStation 4 version led the way with 58 percent of the copies sold, while Xbox One had 41 percent, and Xbox 360 even had 1 percent.
Far Cry 4 also impressed by finishing in 2nd in its debut week, followed by Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, FIFA 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition rounding out the top five.
