Get ready to enjoy some playful family banter with a side of brutal slaughter as Mortal Kombat X introduces us to the Cage family. Of course we already knew these characters would be returning, and had been given some tidbits about their past. This trailer seems to give us a better look at their personality and how they’ll interact together within the storyline though. And who doesn’t love a good Shining reference, that Fatality will certainly be a favorite.
Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and their daughter Cassie Cage will all be playable in the game. Their story seems to be a heavy focus, as Cassie becomes the leader of a group of fighters who were introduced in the last new trailer.
Mortal Kombat X follows off the story from the semi-reboot from 2011. The series has always had some semblance of a story, but that entry took it to a new level. This has allowed fans to become much more attached to their favorite fighters and track the continuing adventures of the group as they battle the forces of Outworld. Mortal Kombat X will be taking this to a new level by featuring many of the original cast’s family or descendants. This is especially true of the Cage family featured here.
Mortal Kombat X will be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on April 14th.
