Telltale Games continues its run of licensed games with the upcoming Minecraft: Story Mode. Previously all that we knew about the project was that it existed in some capacity, but at this weekend’s Minecon 2015 Telltale lifted the veil, giving us our first look at the game.
Featuring a star-studded cast, such as The Last of Us’ Ashley Johnson and Agents of Shield’s Patton Oswalt, Minecraft: Story Mode will finally give players an actual plot inside the Minecraft universe. However, Telltale has said before that it won’t necessarily be the definitive story of the world, merely acting as a standalone story within the already established universe.
No release date, or even a window was given for Minecraft: Story Mode, which is likely a good thing given the current amount of work the studio has going on. Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands are their two currently running series, with gamers complaining of longer wait times between episodes as of late.
Beyond these two Telltale has Minecraft: Story Mode, The Walking Dead Season 3, an untitled Marvel project, and a new IP that has something to do with television. Many have wondered if Telltale is stretching themselves too thin, but thankfully the quality of their games has continued. Whether that will remain true for Minecraft: Story Mode remains to be seen.
Minecraft: Story Mode will be available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android.
