It’s been almost five years since we explored the world of 1940’s American gangsters in Mafia II. 2K Games’ open world action-adventure series Mafia has been rumored to be receiving a third entry for a while, with a voice actor from Mafia II who intimated that we might hear news back in January, and the recent registration of several Mafia III related domains from publisher Take-Two.
These are rumors no more, as Mafia III has been officially revealed by 2K Games. A visit to the official Mafia website greets you with the logo for Mafia III, with a worldwide reveal set for 5/8/15 at 9AM ET. The reveal can be viewed on the game’s official YouTube Channel, and a new Twitter account has been launched, which is set to provide fans with regular updates leading up to the official reveal.
Mafia II received generally favorable reviews when it launched for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in August of 2010, and an absence of news on Mafia III left many fans wondering if a sequel was in development.
Stay tuned to AOTF, where we’ll bring you news of Mafia III when it breaks, as well as all the latest announcements from Gamescom 2015.
