PS4 Error NP-37680-4 Is Plaguing Some PSN Users

The reliance on online gaming has grown even more in this current generation with the PS4 and PSN playing a big part in that. Luckily, we have not seen insane outages in a good while, typically courtesy of hacker groups like Lizard Squad, but there is something definitely going on right now that is affecting some PSN users on PS4.

Reports first started to pop up a few days ago via the official PlayStation forums about some sort of error code known as NP-37680-4.

The issue itself is hard to pinpoint, as there was no issue connecting to the internet in general, but the PS4 systems themselves just couldn’t connect to PSN. People have reported that other systems, even other PS4 systems on their same network are working just fine, but for some reason theirs will not work.

Typically, when there is some sort of PSN related problem, the status page will reflect it, but that page has not reflected anything, which makes this all the stranger. PlayStation support has responded in the thread though to say that they are investigating it.

Some have spoken directly to PlayStation Support on the phone, who gave recommendations of opening ports, but that has not seemed to help. For now, it appears that those affected that did not have the issue clear up will have to wait until something is done, as this is too widespread to be absolutely nothing.

The problem seems to mostly be centered in the US, but there are also reports of some in other countries getting the same error as well. One has to wonder if it might have something to do with the recent system update 3.10, but we’ll just have to wait and see if PlayStation Support gives any updates.
