AP (Ability Points) is an integral part of Final Fantasy 15, as with it you will be able to work your way through the game’s Ascension Grid that provides all of the game’s skills. While leveling up normally will get you stat boosts, it’s by making progress through the Ascension Grid where you’ll reap the biggest character benefits. The following will help you get as much AP as you can and as quickly as possible.

Luckily, getting AP can be done in a variety of different ways, so as long as you’re looking out for all of the different ways from the beginning you should never have an AP problem. While you’ll get some for basic things like completing quests and leveling up your characters, there are a host of smaller things that you can do along the way to also earn even more.

If you complete tours with characters in your team that appear in the morning after camping, you will earn 20 AP for each one upon completion. These will appear randomly, but be sure to do each one as they’re easy AP. Speaking of camping, each time you camp you’ll want to make sure that you’re going to a different site than the one you visited before. If you do this then you will earn 1 AP after each camp session just for camping.

There are also challenges that will arise during combat that will earn you AP if you complete them, such as executing a certain strategy suggested by a character. While we’re on the subject of combat, if you manage to kill an enemy with a Warp Strike then you will get 1 AP every time, so keep this in mind when your enemy’s HP is getting low. Link Attacks can also get you AP sometimes, but you have a better chance of getting some if you kill the enemy with them.

Seeing as Final Fantasy 15 is an RPG, there is obviously a heavy emphasis on character conversations. However, this doesn’t mean that these situations won’t be an opportunity to get you some AP while you shoot the breeze. Responding to character questions in the right way will get you some AP throughout the game, so make sure you’re paying strict attention so you’ll know the best answers to pick.

The fishing mini-game is a fun diversion in the game, but if you know what you’re doing then it can also get you some AP. In the Ascension Grid you will want to unlock the Angler Action skill, as doing this will get you 1 AP each time you catch a fish. Unlock this one as soon as you can and the game’s side show can get you a decent amount of AP along the way.

Making your way around the game’s world is also an opportunity to earn AP, though you’ll need to unlock the right skills in the Ascension Grid first. Unlocking the Roadrunning skill will earn you AP while driving around, whereas unlocking the Chocobump skill will earn you AP while riding Chocobos. Navigation will prove to be a big part of your adventure, so this can be a good source of AP.

Finally, there are numerous skills to unlock in the Ascension Grid that will earn you 1 AP with each use, which include the likes of Appetize, Armiger Action, Armiger-Chain Reaction and Magic Action. Keep these tips in mind and you’ll always have plenty of AP to unlock new skills.
