Bluehole has announced a new strategic partnership that will have Microsoft publishing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the Xbox One. Â While the studio will retain creative control of PUBG, the company says that it will utilize Microsoft’s vast resources to accelerate console development and maintain quality across all platforms.
According to Chang Han Kim, VP of Bluehole and Executive Producer on the game, “This partnership with Microsoft will accelerate the development and delivery of PUBG to console players around the world as we utilize their vast resources and impressive technical, sales and marketing expertise.”
The announcement comes out of Gamescom 2017. Â In the announcement Phil Spencer of Microsoft re-confirmed that an early access version of PUBG will arrive on Xbox One in 2017. Â A final product will arrive in early 2018 that’ll be playable on all Xbox devices.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been available on Steam via Early Access for a few months. Â The Battle Royale shooter drops players onto an island where they must scavenge weapons, ammunition, items, and armor to help them survive and be the last-man-standing.
The release date for PUBG on Xbox One is still set for “late” 2017 when it comes to early access on the console and “early” 2018 for the finished product.
