Epic Games recently introduced a new way to play Fortnite by taking notes on the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Â Releasing a Battle Royale Mode for the game has sparked some conversation about the early access title, but apparently the mode will be free to play on all platforms beginning on September 26th.
The Battle Royale mode in Fortnite isn’t going to include the full game, but will arrive on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC/Mac. Â The mode features similar mechanics to PUBG. Â It throws 100 players into one big map and the last person standing wins the match. Â Players scavenge the map to find items to help them stay alive while trying to avoid being killed by other players.
With the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds it was only a matter of time before someone came in and tried to copy the game mode. Â Epic says that they’ve been experimenting with adding the Battle Royale mode to Fortnite for a few months, claiming that it turned out to be so much fun that they decided to share it with everyone as a free to play download.
Fortnite is currently in early access on all platforms and will eventually end up being a free to play game. Â At least that’s what Epic Games is saying at the moment. Â To play the full game, however, it’ll cost you. Â Fortnite’s full version is available for $39.99 for the Standard Edition with versions ranging in price all the way up to a $149.99 Limited Edition of the game.
