Blumhouse Productions has unveiled today the name of the person who will be in charge of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation, and it’s a well-known veteran in successful Hollywood films. We are talking about Chris Columbus, whose vast trajectory includes classic family films like Home Alone, or the first two Harry Potter movies. Perhaps it is surprising that a veteran in family films has been signed to adapt a horror game, but it is also worth noting that the games appeal to a wide audience including teenagers.
Columbus has signed to write and direct the film, which will presumably recreate the basic concept of the games, in which players need to spend five terrifying nights locked inside a pizza restaurant, where they will suffer the attack of a few mechanical toys with psychotic intentions. The announcement has been made via Twitter, where the production company posted a photo and the message: “Mr. Columbus, are you ready for Freddy?”
Given the early stage of the project, the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie still doesn’t have a premiere date.
Fans of the series were recently surprised when ‘Five Nights’ creator Scott Cawthon published his anticipated new game on December. But what originally seemed a simple tycoon game actually contained enough elements to be considered the actual Five Nights at Freddy’s 6.
