Sony dropped their latest sales figures for the PlayStation 3 at their TGS Press Conference, and the company is approaching the 52 Million units sold mark.
Sony notes that PlayStation 3 sales make up nearly %50 of all consoles sold in the last year, with PS3 software representing 46% of the overall market worldwide.
These numbers paint a much better picture than the figures that are released by the NPD Group each month. Â It certainly doesn’t help that Sony remains very secretive of their sales figures each month for their North American figures. Â The PSP handheld total sales figures were revealed as well, with the device racking up almost 72 million sales since launch. Â With the recent price cuts and strong content headed to the console this fall, these global numbers are expected to rise in this all-important holiday season.
Resistance 3 recently kicked off the fall for the PlayStation 3 and has been getting great reviews, with many calling it Insomniacs best work in the franchise.
