Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – What to do with Sake

Recommended Videos

Like FromSoftware’s many other games, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice features a ton of items whose use isn’t entirely clear. You travel around the world, destroying monsters, solving puzzles, hunting down loot, and in the end you wind up with a bunch of stuff you’re not sure what to do with. This is the case with a number of different types of sake found in Sekiro. This guide will help you figure out what to do with sake in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

What to do with Sake

In general, the answer is to hold onto it until later. This is because the entire use of sake in this game is as a catalyst for interactions with other characters. All those random NPCs you’ve run across throughout the game, many of them like a bit of sake every now and then. This is especially true of the Sculptor, the mysterious old man who nursed you back to life and fitted you with your new prosthetic arm.

In all of Sekiro there are four types of sake you can collect, and most of them will go to the Sculptor. Here’s what to do with all of them…

Unrefined Sake – Give to the Sculptor
Dragonspring Sake – Give to the Sculptor (others may be possible as well)
Ashina Sake – Give to either Emma or the Sculptor
Monkey Booze – Give to the Sculptor

At least, that’s all we know about now. Sekiro hides its secrets well. So, that’s what to do with it, but what happens when you do that? What’s the point of sharing all this sake? The same as in real life: to make people happy and talk to them about things. Once you give the drink to someone they’ll open up to you, sharing a story about their past and enlightening you about their character more. And that’s what to do with sake in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It may not be game changing, but it’s a really nice touch.
