While some consider it a ripoff of Dark Souls, Nioh has certainly found its audience, and with the announcement of Nioh 2 at last years E3, the excitement was through the roof. Well that excitement is about to return tenfold because Team Ninja has just announced that their will be a special closed Alpha for Nioh 2 on the PlayStation 4 and it starts this week, going from May 24 to June 2.
The developer has yet to reveal how to join the Closed Alpha, but apparently they have had a select group of players in mind as the demo date is quickly approaching. Along with this news, we also got a gameplay trailer which shows off just how far the series has come since the first iteration. The the new feature that stands out is that you’ll be able to transform into what looks like an Oni type warrior and wreak havoc on your enemies.
As we stated earlier, no further information was given upon the announcement, but Team Ninja has stated in their tweet that they would have more news in the future. Hopefully that will include more sign ups for the Closed Alpha, as it lasts a little more than a week. Regardless, it’s great to see Nioh 2 make a lot of progress in less than a year, and we’re hoping that a release date is in mind of the developer as E3 2019 is almost upon us.
Nioh 2Â will launch for the PlayStation 4. You can check out the Closed Alpha Trailer here:
