The beginning of the trade sequence in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was all housed within the confines of Mabe Village, but it really starts to branch out and get less obvious on where to go with the fourth item. After obtaining the Dog Food from CiaoCiao in Mabe Village, you need to go find the next item that is necessary to continue the story after the Bottle Grotto. This guide will explain where you need to go to trade the Dog Food for the fourth item in the trade sequence in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

After leaving CiaoCiao with the Dog Food in hand, it’s down to head back down to the beach area. Start by heading west out of Mabe Village and then south. Once you get to the beach area, you need to start heading to the east through the various enemies and obstacles that may block your path. If you went too far south, you may have to go a little north as well.

Eventually, you’ll run across a hut here that you can enter with an alligator wearing a hat named Sale. Speak with Sale and he will point out that you have canned food. I guess Dog Good is good enough for him in that category, so he asks you to trade it to him. In exchange, Sale gives you the Bananas you need to continue in the game as the fourth item in the trade sequence.
