Duskull Community Day

Pokémon GO: Duskull Community Day Guide – Everything You Need to Know

Recommended Videos

Duskull Community Day arrives in Pokémon GO on Saturday, October 9th 2021! This spookily-themed Community Day will be full of Duskull with an incredibly high chance to be shiny, as well as a plethora of special bonuses throughout the event. With Community Day only happening once a month, it’s important to make the most of it. We’ve created this Pokémon GO Duskull Community Day guide with all the details of the event, as well as tips on how to prepare and what to look out for.

When is Duskull Community Day in Pokémon GO?

Duskull Community Day is taking place on October 9th, 2021 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm local time. That leaves 6 hours to catch as many shiny Duskull as you can! Don’t worry about evolving Duskull all the way into Dusknoir during the event hours, as they are still able to learn the exclusive move until 7:00 pm local time, two hours after the event ends. It’s worth noting that the exclusive move cannot be learnt by TM.

What are the Bonuses During Duskull Community Day?

The exclusive move for Duskull Community Day is ‘Shadow Ball‘, which is a Ghost-type Charged move. Duskull that evolve into Dusclops and then Dusknoir automatically gain Shadow Ball upon evolution. Dusknoir caught during the event, such as the one included in the paid research task, will also have Shadow Ball upon capture.

Throughout the event hours, 3x catch Stardust will be active. This is an absolutely fantastic time to stock up on Stardust, a precious resource used for powering Pokémon up, trading, learning a third move and more. The triple catch Stardust bonus will stack with a Star Piece for even bigger gains!

As is custom with all Community Days, Incense and Lures will last for 3 hours. It’s worth noting that Incense stack, meaning you can activate two Incense straight after each other and be prepped for the entire 6-hour duration. A one-time special box will also be available to purchase, which includes 50 Ultra Balls, 4 Incense, 4 Star Pieces and an Elite Charged TM for 1280 Pokécoins. A free box will also be included in the shop, which contains 50 Ultra Balls. Make sure to redeem it before the event ends!

Finally, free Special Research will provide simple tasks to receive up to 4 free Sinnoh Stones, which are required to evolve Dusclops into Dusknoir. A paid Special Research is also available to buy, ‘Nothin’ Dull About Duskull’, for $1 USD.

Is Dusknoir a Good Pokémon in Pokémon GO?

Unfortunately, Dusknoir is not a great Pokémon in PvE (Raids) or PvP. Shadow Ball does make it better than it used to be, but there are much better choices for both Raids and GO Battle League. If you want to know the counters for the current 5-Star Raid Boss, check out our guide on Genesect counters in Pokémon GO. The main focus of this Community Day, after shiny Duskull, is the absolutely colossal potential for Stardust, which we will cover below.

How to Make the Most out of Duskull Community Day

Make sure you have an Incense equipped at all times. If you’re going to play the whole 6-hour duration, equip both straight after each other at the start of the event to stack the duration to 6 hours. Community Day can be safely played at home, but you’ll definitely yield better results in areas with a lot of Pokéstops, especially parks, which have dark-green grass on the overworld map. Most importantly, have a Star Piece on during your most active hours and catch as many Duskull as possible. A Star Piece, combined with the 3x catch Stardust bonus, comes to 4.5x the regular amount of Stardust per capture. This can easily rack up to 200-400k+ Stardust by the end of the event, which is an incredible amount.

Most importantly, have fun and stay safe! Make sure to visit our list of Pokémon GO promo codes to make sure you’re fully stocked up before the event.

Pokémon GO is available for free on Android and iOS devices.
