How to Get the Nidavellir Docks Chest in God of War Ragnarok

When you first arrive in Nidavellir in God of War Ragnarok, you’ll be taunted by a seemingly unreachable chest on the docks. As if the cold welcome you’ve received from the dwarves isn’t enough, now you can’t get the loot that’s just a few steps away. There’s no need to worry though, because the solution to your problem is literally just a few seconds away. Atreus can break the green metal blocking your way to the chest, but you’ll need to unlock a special ability for him first. Here’s how to break the green metal and get the Nidavellir docks chest in God of War Ragnarok.

How to Get the Nidavellir Docks Chest in God of War Ragnarok

To reach the chest on the Nidvaellir docks, you have to break the glowing green metal blocking your path. This can be done with Sonic Arrows fired by Atreus, but you won’t have them unlocked when you first arrive in Nidavellir. There’s no need to worry, however, since Atreus will unlock the ability just a few seconds later as you proceed into the town square.

After walking into the main square of Nidavellir, you’ll encounter Sindri who has set up shop. In addition to providing an opportunity to craft new gear and purchase useful items like resurrection stones, Sindri will give a gift to Atreus: the Sonic Arrows that you need to break the metal. After a brief tutorial, you’ll be able to command Atreus to shoot Sonic Arrows at any time.

Sonic Arrows can break any metal that glows green, and you’ll have to use them in pretty much every puzzle from here on out. Now that Atreus has the proper gear, head back to the docks and have him shoot an arrow at the metal blocking your path. This will allow you to reach the chest and claim the loot inside.

God of War Ragnarok is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
